COLLABORATORS

The India Sensed program thrives on the rich collaboration between a diverse group of participants, including master artisans, craft experts, designers, RISD students and faculty.

Sheela Lunkad, the program director and crafts expert, leads the initiative with her deep knowledge of Indian artisan traditions. The artisans, with their exceptional skills, bring traditional Indian crafts to life, offering invaluable insights and hands-on instruction. Students from RISD and Brown University, eager to learn and innovate, engage deeply with these artisans, creating a dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques.

The RISD faculty, comprising of Catherine Andreozzi and Joy Ko, guide this collaboration, providing theoretical context and fostering a supportive learning environment. Together, these collaborators create a unique educational experience that bridges tradition and modernity, enriching both the participants and the broader design community.
